A Study of Sand - Play Expression in Preschool - Age Children

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the Sand-Play expressions of general young children according to their development. The concrete purposes of this study are to figure out the time spent of the production, the figures picked out(used), the use of space, and the level of construction of the production.
The subject of this study were 150 children of age between 36 and 65 months who were attending five day-care centers in Taegu. Each subject individually did Sand-Play and the time limit was 40 minutes. The samples were classified into 5 groups in terms of 6 months intervals.
Each group was consisted of 30 children. Drawing a Person Test was employed for this study to exclude the subjects outside of the normal category.
The results of this study were as follows :
With the increase of ages,
First, the amount of time spent was increased.
Second, children used more figures and more figure categories.
Third, children used more space.
Forth, while confused or simple arrangement construction showed declination, intended product with clear issue showed up increased.
